In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door there are a total of 42 Shine Sprites that can be collected throughout the game. They are always found in special boxes that you can jump into to collect the Shine Sprite. You can use Shine Sprites to upgrade your partners at Merlon's Shop in East Rogueport. Each partner upgrade requires 3 Shine Sprites, so there are enough to upgrade each partner twice.

Chapter 1 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #1
This Shine Sprite can be found in a large room on the first floor of Hooktail Castle. It's in a box in the center of the room.

This Shine Sprite can be found in the treasure room on Hooktail Castle Third Floor.
Shine Sprite #3
This Shine Sprite can be found right in front of the final locked door in Hooktail Castle.
Shine Sprite #4
After learning the paper mode ability in Hooktail Castle, you can visit the Thousand Year Door room in Rogueport Sewers and use the ability to get through a fence. From here you can use the spring and airplane platform to reach the other side of the room. There's another spring that will take you up to a platform where you can find this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 2 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #5
One screen to the right of the Great Tree in Boggly Woods, there is a pipe leading to an airplane panel. After hitting the blue switch to raise this panel, you can use Koops's shell attack to hit the box containing this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #6
Inside the Great Tree on the first floor, there is a room where you must blow Punies across a gap to the other side. If you drop down to the bottom area in this room you'll find this Shine Sprite in a box.
Shine Sprite #7
Inside the Great Tree on sublevel one, there is a room where you can use Flurrie to blow a pot off of an airplane panel. You can then use that panel to reach the right side of the room, where there's another airplane panel. You can then use that to go back to the left and reach a platform where you'll find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #8
Inside the Great Tree (sublevel two) you'll need to enter the correct symbol on some pillars to get the Super Boots. Once you have them, you can exit the room and use a spin jump to get to the room below. You can then carefully jump across the platforms to reach this Shine Sprite.

Inside the Great Tree (sublevel four) there is a room full of water that you need to drain by hitting a couple of switches on the right side. When the upper room is drained, you can visit the room below where the water raises some lily pad platforms that let you reach this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 3 Shine Sprites

On the northeast side of Glitzville you'll notice this Shine Sprite right out in the open. You'll just need to whack the hidden block below it with your hammer to be able to reach it.
Shine Sprite #11
You can find this Shine Sprite in the attic above the storage room in the Glitz Pit. After getting the Storage Key to access the room, you must find the switch in the left corner (by blowing away the boxes with Flurrie's gust) to reveal a staircase. Use it to reach the attic.
Shine Sprite #12
In East Rogueport there is an area to the far east with crates leading up to some rooftops. Use Yoshi's flutter jump just south of the bridge to reach this area. Climb up on the roofs and flutter jump across another gap to the left. Reach the tall red roof behind you to find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #13
In East Rogueport you can slip between the buildings using paper mode or get behind the buildings by jumping down from the roofs above. Use Yoshi's flutter jump across the water to reach the left corner. Here you can find a Shine Sprite in a block above some crates.
Shine Sprite #14
In the warp pipe room in Rogueport Sewers there is a large yellow block against the wall. Once you have the Super Hammer from Glitzville, you can break this block to reveal a small alcove where you'll find this Shine Sprite.

Once you have Yoshi, enter the sewers from the grate in West Rogueport. Use Yoshi's flutter jump to reach a platform to the left where you'll find this Shine Sprite.
