In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door there are a total of 42 Shine Sprites that can be collected throughout the game. They are always found in special boxes that you can jump into to collect the Shine Sprite. You can use Shine Sprites to upgrade your partners at Merlon's Shop in East Rogueport. Each partner upgrade requires 3 Shine Sprites, so there are enough to upgrade each partner twice.

Chapter 1 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #1
This Shine Sprite can be found in a large room on the first floor of Hooktail Castle. It's in a box in the center of the room.

This Shine Sprite can be found in the treasure room on Hooktail Castle Third Floor.
Shine Sprite #3
This Shine Sprite can be found right in front of the final locked door in Hooktail Castle.
Shine Sprite #4
After learning the paper mode ability in Hooktail Castle, you can visit the Thousand Year Door room in Rogueport Sewers and use the ability to get through a fence. From here you can use the spring and airplane platform to reach the other side of the room. There's another spring that will take you up to a platform where you can find this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 2 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #5
One screen to the right of the Great Tree in Boggly Woods, there is a pipe leading to an airplane panel. After hitting the blue switch to raise this panel, you can use Koops's shell attack to hit the box containing this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #6
Inside the Great Tree on the first floor, there is a room where you must blow Punies across a gap to the other side. If you drop down to the bottom area in this room you'll find this Shine Sprite in a box.
Shine Sprite #7
Inside the Great Tree on sublevel one, there is a room where you can use Flurrie to blow a pot off of an airplane panel. You can then use that panel to reach the right side of the room, where there's another airplane panel. You can then use that to go back to the left and reach a platform where you'll find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #8
Inside the Great Tree (sublevel two) you'll need to enter the correct symbol on some pillars to get the Super Boots. Once you have them, you can exit the room and use a spin jump to get to the room below. You can then carefully jump across the platforms to reach this Shine Sprite.

Inside the Great Tree (sublevel four) there is a room full of water that you need to drain by hitting a couple of switches on the right side. When the upper room is drained, you can visit the room below where the water raises some lily pad platforms that let you reach this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 3 Shine Sprites

On the northeast side of Glitzville you'll notice this Shine Sprite right out in the open. You'll just need to whack the hidden block below it with your hammer to be able to reach it.

You can find this Shine Sprite in the attic above the storage room in the Glitz Pit. After getting the Storage Key to access the room, you must find the switch in the left corner (by blowing away the boxes with Flurrie's gust) to reveal a staircase. Use it to reach the attic.
Shine Sprite #12
In East Rogueport there is an area to the far east with crates leading up to some rooftops. Use Yoshi's flutter jump just south of the bridge to reach this area. Climb up on the roofs and flutter jump across another gap to the left. Reach the tall red roof behind you to find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #13
In East Rogueport you can slip between the buildings using paper mode or get behind the buildings by jumping down from the roofs above. Use Yoshi's flutter jump across the water to reach the left corner. Here you can find a Shine Sprite in a block above some crates.

In the warp pipe room in Rogueport Sewers there is a large yellow block against the wall. Once you have the Super Hammer from Glitzville, you can break this block to reveal a small alcove where you'll find this Shine Sprite.

Once you have Yoshi, enter the sewers from the grate in West Rogueport. Use Yoshi's flutter jump to reach a platform to the left where you'll find this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 4 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #16
This Shine Sprite block is hidden from view behind a tree in the darker woods section of Twilight Trail. After you push the rock in the background to also move the rock in the foreground and come out the other side, jump up to find the block as you walk behind the tree on the right side of the screen.

As soon as you reach the Creepy Steeple area, you can get to sublevel one by ground pounding through the wood panel covering the well. Inside you'll find a Shine Sprite in the first room.
Shine Sprite #18
As soon as you enter the Creepy Steeple via the main entrance, you can use tube mode to roll into a small opening to the north. This leads to a treasure room where you'll find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #19
After becoming Shadow Mario and getting Vivian as a partner, you can reach a new room in the well that leads to sublevel one of Creepy Steeple. After pushing the grate to the right and then sneaking into the shadows, you can head through a door into a new room. This room has a block containing this Shine Sprite.

After getting the tube mode ability, return to the rooftops in East Rogueport. You'll find a chimney that you can use tube mode to roll into. This leads to Admiral Bobbery's house. Check the room in the back to find this Shine Sprite.

After getting the tube mode ability, return to West Rogueport. Enter the first house you see and go up the stairs and you'll see a small opening to the right. Use tube mode to roll through it and enter a back alley. Here you'll find a block containing this Shine Sprite.
Chapter 5 Shine Sprites
Shine Sprite #22
On Keelhual Key there is a platforming section where you need to climb and flutter jump across a rock staircase. At the top you'll see this Shine Sprite in a block to the left. You'll need to carefully line up a flutter jump to reach it.
Shine Sprite #23
On Keelhaul Key there is a bridge where you find the lost crew members and Admiral Bobbery fights off some Embers. Cross this bridge to find this Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #24
Inside the Pirate's Grotto you'll find a Shine Sprite block above the highest point of a sunken ship in one of the first rooms.
Shine Sprite #25
There is a staircase in Pirate's Grotto with a Shine Sprite block floating above it. If you go to the top step you can send Koops's shell towards it to reveal a hidden block below. You can then use that block to collect the Shine Sprite.
Shine Sprite #26
There is a room in Pirate's Grotto where you use a red switch to activate an elevator platfrom and get the Grotto Key. If you you stand on the counter-weight box instead it will take you to the top of a stack of barrels where you can find this Shine Sprite.

After unlocking the door with the Grotto Key in Pirate's Grotto, you'll find a room with rolling waves. Use Koops's shell attack to hit the block containing this Shine Sprite to the right.

In the next room in the Pirate's Grotto after the above Shine Sprite, you'll find this Shine Sprite right in the open. Just whack beneath it to find a hidden block that lets you reach it.

After getting the paper boat ability, return to sublevel one of Rogueport Sewers and head right to the watery area that leads to Petalburg. Use the boat panel here to sail all the way to the right to find this Shine Sprite.

Go to sublevel two of Rogeuport Sewers below West Rogueport. Take the stairs to the left and blow away the paper wall with Flurrie to reveal a green pipe. Instead of taking the pipe, head left in the little alcove to reach a boat panel. Sail all the way to the right past multiple screens and you'll find a secret room containing three Shine Sprites.

Go to sublevel two of Rogeuport Sewers below West Rogueport. Take the stairs to the left and blow away the paper wall with Flurrie to reveal a green pipe. Instead of taking the pipe, head left in the little alcove to reach a boat panel. Sail all the way to the right past multiple screens and you'll find a secret room containing three Shine Sprites.

After you have Admiral Bobbery as a partner, use him to blow up the cracked wall next to the item shop in West Rogueport. This lets you access a narrow alley where you can find a Shine Sprite.
