Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 has four hidden fighters and one hidden stage. The following guide will explain how to unlock each of them, available in video and text form.
How to Unlock Characters in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64
Jigglypuff
You can unlock the adorable pink ball Jigglypuff by completing 1P Game (Classic Mode). You may complete 1P Game at any difficulty with any character. You'll need to defeat Jigglypuff in a battle on Saffron City to unlock her as a playable character.
Captain Falcon
You can unlock the speed racer Captain Falcon by completing 1P Game (Classic Mode) in under 20 minutes without using continues. You may complete 1P Game at any difficulty with any character. You'll need to defeat Captain Falcon in a battle on Planet Zebes to unlock him as a playable character.
Luigi
You can unlock the eternal understudy Luigi by completing Bonus 1 (Break the Targets) with all eight starting characters. You'll need to defeat Luigi in a battle on Peach's Castle to unlock him as a playable character.
Ness
You can unlock the child genius Ness by completing 1P Game (Classic Mode) on Normal difficulty starting with 3 lives or less. You can do this with any character, but cannot use continues. You'll need to defeat Ness in a battle on Dreamland to unlock him as a playable character.
How to Unlock Stages in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64
Mushroom Kingdom
In order to unlock Mushroom Kingdom, the only secret stage in Super Smash Bros, you'll need to complete 1P Game (Classic Mode) as all eight starting characters. You'll also need to have played on each stage in multiplayer at least once.

Sound Test
Sound Test is a special mode/easter egg that lets you browse every sound bite in the game. It can be accessed under the Data menu. To unlock it, you'll need to complete Bonus Stage 1 (Break the Targets) and Bonus Stage 2 (Board the Platforms) with every character.
Item Switch
Item Switch is an options menu that allows you to choose which items you want to use in multiplayer. To unlock it, you'll need to play 100 multiplayer matches. This can be done with CPUs rather than a second player if preferred.
Mew Appears in Pokéballs
Once you unlock every character in Super Smash Bros, there is a 1-in-151 chance that the legendary Pokemon Mew will appear when you throw a Pokéball. Mew will appear on screen for a few moments before flying away without causing any harm.
