Fahr Outpost

As soon as you emerge from the pipe in this cold and snowy area, you can do a ground pound near the save block to find Star Piece #92 in a hidden panel. Continue to the right and jump in front of the last tree in the area to find a hidden block containing the Double Dip P badge.

In the next area you'll find a new enemy varient called an Ice Puff. Check behind the tree in this area to find Shine Sprite #41. Continue to the right and you'll find some Frost Piranha enemies. A little further to the right you'll find Star Piece #93 behind a dead bush.

Continue to the right in the next area past more enemies and you'll find a red block on the ground that contains an HP Plus P badge. Check behind the brick wall in the foreground to find Star Piece #94.

Head to the right to arrive into the village of Fahr Outpost. Check behind the first section of brick wall in the foreground to find Star Piece #95. There's not much else to do in this first area besides speaking to the residents, so check out the next area of town to the right.

Here you'll find an Inn (you can get an Inn Coupon by checking behind the stairs) and an Item Shop. Ground pound to the left of the large cannon to find Star Piece #96 in a hidden floor panel. Enter the house to the right and you can find Star Piece #97 behind a stack of boxes.

To the right of the house you'll also find Shine Sprite #42 partially buried in the snow. If you've been following along, this means that you've collected all 42 Shine Sprites in the game! If you speak to the bob-ombs around town they will deny having the clearly visible cannon. Repeatedely speak to the green bob-omb with Admiral Bobbery by your side to learn the real story. You must seek the help of Goldbob and General White to use the cannon.
Finding General White

We'll need to leave Fahr Outpost the same way we came and return to Rogueport. Since we just finished collecting every Shine Sprite, this gives us the perfect opportunity to pay a visit to Merlon in East Rogueport to finish upgrading our partners.

You'll now want to enter the warp pipe room and head over to Posheville to pay a visit to Goldbob. You'll need to prove your dedication to saving the world by agreeing to give up all your coins, though he won't really keep them. You will get Goldbob's Pass, giving you permission to use the cannon.

Although we have permission, we still need to track down the cannon's operator, General White. If you recall, we've actually met him before. He was the bob-omb in Petalburg who was in a rather sad state. Head over to Petalburg and speak to the Koopa in front of the Inn. He'll tell you General White took a trip to a deserted isle.

Head back to the warp pipe room and pay a visit to Keelhaul Key. Speak to the Bob-omb in camp and he'll tell you that General White was here but has since left for a floating city. This is Glitzville, so return to the warp pipe room and head over there. Speak to the bartender at the juice bar here and he points you in the direction of some huge tree.

Warp over to the Great Tree and speak to the first Puni after entering. They've seen General White, but he's since left for "somewhere dark". Warp over to Twilight Town and speak to the Twilighter to the right of the item shop. He confirms General White was here, but doesn't know where he went.

With no further clues and having visited every area, return to Fahr Outpost using the pipe in the sewers beneath West Rogueport. Speak to the mayor (green) near the cannon again and you'll spot General White emerging from his house in the background. Enter his house and wake him up by trying to speak to him and then jumping on him repeatedely (don't give up, just keep jumping and he'll eventually wake).

As it turns out, General White has also been looking for you! Now that the stars have aligned, he will prepare Big Bob (the cannon) to launch you to the moon. Speak to the mayor again and follow him to the left. You'll fall into a trap door and the awesome cannon launch sequence will take place which results in you being launched onto the moon.
The Moon

Upon arriving you'll immediately notice that the moon's gravity is much more floaty than back on earth. Because the moon is round, you can head in either direction to continue. There's nothing important to miss going the other direction, but you can blow up the various cracked rocks for a few battle items.

Along the way you'll encounter a new enemy varient: the Moon Cleft. When you've made it all the way to the other side of the moon you'll start seeing some X-Naut enemies called Z-Yux. Use Flurrie to blow away the Mini-Z-Yux they summon so you can attack them directly. Check behind the rock to the left of the top crater to find Star Piece #98.

Blow up the rock to the left of the large crater to reveal a green pipe that will take you to the fortress in the background. Take the path to the right and enter the next room where you'll be attacked by some Elite X-Naut. After defeating them it will be formally revealed that you are in the X-Naut Fortress.
X-Naut Fortress

Make use of the save block and continue to the right past the elevator, defeating some X-Nauts along the way. As soon as you enter this room a pattern will be revealed on the floor, these are the only safe tiles you can walk on. You can re-enter the room to briefly see it again. Use the safe tiles to make your way to the chest where you can get the Elevator Key (Blue). Afterward all the tiles will be safe and you can pick up the Ultra Shroom from the block.

You can now use the elevator in the hallway, so take it to sublevel two. Head to the left and defeat the X-Nauts before heading into the left room. This is another tile puzzle, but this time the solution is printed on the back wall. Follow the safe tiles to the chest that contains the Security Key (◆). You can also pick up a Sleepy Sheep from the item block.

Back in the hallway, enter the door to the right of the save block. In here you'll find a teleporter you can use with the red button. This will transport you to another room in Rogueport sewers, revealing how the X-Nauts were getting to Rogueport in the first place. There's nothing to do here for now, so just use the teleporter again to return to the X-Naut Fortress.

Exit this teleporter room and enter the next room to the right. You'll find a vent hanging down from the ceiling to the right. Use a spring jump to enter the vent where you'll latch on to a pipe. Head all the way to the left in these vents to find Star Piece #99. Now head to the right and drop through the second vent you see to get back to the teleporter room.

From on top of this computer you can use Koops to get the Cog from the other side. Now continue right in the hallway to the next room past the second elevator. You'll find two notes in this room that give you hints for future puzzles. Today's security code is [014029] and you turn the power on with [Left, Right, Middle].

Exit this room and enter the throne room at the end of the hallway to the right. Inside you'll find a new X-Yux variant. Enter the room behind the throne to find Grodus's office. Steal the Security Key (❤) from his desk.

Exit this office and take the left elevator to sublevel one. Enter the room at the far left of the hallway where you'll see a machine with a missing gear. Insert the Cog into this machine and then press the buttons using the order from the hint we found earlier: left, right, middle.

This activates a claw machine game. Use Y and X to move the claw and line up the light beneath it with the prize that you want. There are three important prizes: the Feeling Fine badge, the Feeling Fine P badge, and Star Piece #100. If you've been following along this means that you've now collected all 100 Star Pieces in the game!

Head to the right of the hallway on this floor and enter the access code we found earlier into the machine: 014029. Leave the extra spaces blank. Enter the room to the right and you'll find another trivia quiz, specifically the 66th Trivia Quiz-Off. Here are the questions and answers:
Q: Exactly what's hidden here?
A: Elevator Key
Q: What's the name of the girl in Petalburg who's waiting patiently for Koops's return?
A: Koopie Koo
Q: Goomba, Lava Bubble, Buzzy Beetle, and Boo. How many feet do they have? Total!
A: 6 Feet
Q: Where was the one, the only, Diamond Star?
A: Hooktail's Belly
Q: What was the name of the very first champion of the Glitz Pit?
A: Prince Mush
Q: What did Francesca and Frankie from Rogueport lose on Keelhaul Key?
A: Ring
Q: What number question is this?
A: Question Seven

After answering five questions correctly, you'll get a chest that contains the Elevator Key (Red). You can now return to sublevel two and use the right elevator. In the Switch remake, you'll now need to collect an extra security key on sublevel four. Enter Princess Peach's room to the left and then the bathroom. You'll walk in on an X-Naut taking a shower. After defeating him you'll collect the Security Key (♣).

Take the elevator up to sublevel three and enter the room at the end of the hallway to the left. This is another tile puzzle, but this time the safe tiles will illuminate as they go and only last for a couple seconds. Just follow the pattern as it moves along the floor and remember that it can also move backwards for awhile. Once you get to the end you can open the chest to get the Security Key (♠).

Now enter the room on the right side of the hallway where you can use your key cards on the corresponding machines. The door to the right will unlock and you'll be greeted with an X-Naut to defeat. Afterward throw Admiral Bobbery over the gate to activate the blue switch to start the large machine in this room.

Use paper mode to slip through the grate and get on the moving conveyor belt. Use Vivian to sneak into the shadows to get under the obstacle and then hop onto the lift. Then take the platform to the left and use the green pipe to get into the background. You can use the moving platforms to grab an Ultra Shroom to the left if you'd like. If you fall off you'll need to take one of the green pipes to return to the foreground and start again.

Now head to the right over the spinning gears. Use the next series of platforms to get all the way to the tallest pipe on the right where you'll find another Ultra Shroom. Take this pipe to find an airplane panel and fly to the left. Here you can pick up the Security Key (★). Use the heart block here if you need, as a boss fight is coming up.

Use the left pipe to return to the beginning of this puzzle and repeat the process again. This time, stop at the tall pipe in the center where you'll be brought to save block. Use the moving platforms to reach the blue switch on the right. Hitting it will make a staircase appear. Make sure to save before heading up it and using the last security key.
Magnus von Grapple 2.0

You'll walk into the next room to find Lord Crump. He reveals that he lured you here and Princess Peach is long gone. He then introduces you to this chapter's final boss: Magnus 2.0. It has 70 HP, 6 Attack, and 2 Defense. The key to this fight is quickly taking out Magnus's drill hands when they separate. If you have the FP, Admiral Bobbery's Bomb-ombast clears them both while damaging Magnus as well.

Once you deal enough damage, Magnus 2.0 will use an attack where he sucks up members of the crowd and spits them back at you. This move is fast and can deal a lot of damage, but each attack can be guarded if you are quick enough. If you're well prepared with a good arsenal of badges, Magnus 2.0 shouldn't put up much of a fight.

Once Magnus and Lord Crump are defeated they will blast off from the moon leaving the final Crystal Star in their place. Your star power will be upgraded and you'll learn the new move Supernova.
Bowser

Your perspective will switch back to Bowser, who's just arrived at Poshley Sanctum. The door will be locked, but you can break the lock by having a stomping fit. Bowser will of course fall for the red herring Crystal Star found here. Pennington will then show up and deliver the bad news. After learning that Mario has collected all the Crystal Stars, Bowser makes his way to The Thousand Year Door.
Escaping the Fortress

There's no Peach sequence this time around, so you'll be back to controlling Mario. Back in the X-Naut Fortress, most of the doors have been locked. Your only path forward is on sublevel four where you can head right to visit TEC's room. It turns out TEC still has some cached memory, so he informs you that Peach is with Grodus at the Palace of Shadow.

TEC sacrifices his remaining power (and thus consciousness) to activiate the teleporter back to Rogueport. This is the same one that we used before on sublevel two. It's the open door next to the save block. TEC will say his final goodbye to Peach and you'll return to Rogueport Sewers.

When you exit the teleporter room Professor Frankly will be waiting to hear about what happened. He apparently witnessed Grodus take Princess Peach through the Thousand Year Door. He wants you to meet him there, but there are a couple optional things to do first.
Pit of 100 Trials

If you haven't already, now is the time to attempt the Pit of 100 Trials. It's the hardest challenge in the game, with 100 floors of enemies to defeat and the hardest boss in the game to top it off. There are many useful badges you can earn as you progress as well as an item storage expansion at the half way mark. Check out our full Pit of 100 Trials guide for full details.
